Antic Artichoke 3

A stone-toned stoneware artichoke, mounted on a brass stem and set atop a column of rough-hewn stone. The fluted stem rises from the stone base like a plant-inspired capital—somewhere between an archaeological fragment and a totem figure. The unique texture of the stoneware, ranging from the roughest to the smoothest, interacts with light differently at each level of the sculpture.
